POSTPONED! Next Digital Privacy Salon 18/06/19: Europeans’ attitudes towards Internet security

Sorry to announce that the next Privacy Salon, scheduled for Tuesday, June 18th, has been postponed. The new date will be announced shortly.

In this edition of the Privacy Salon we will look at attitudes towards Internet Security of the participants, based on the recently released Eurobarometer of the European Commission.

We will ask the same questions in the report to participants of the Salon, compare the results to those from Luxembourg and the EU and look at ways to deal with the concerns raised.

So come along and see if your concerns match those of your fellow Luxembourgers and Europeans 😉

For more information on Privacy Salon read this @sachaheck post about a Salon and this interview with Rosi, asking about her transition from Privacy Salon attendee to speaker. The interview is also available in French and German.

Digital Privacy Salons are skill & knowledge sharing sessions which aim to teach people the basic ways of protecting themselves and their data from intrusive surveillance and unwanted/unwitting information gathering.

Generally the salons deal with how to have private conversations over instant messaging, emails, how to browse anonymously amongst other things.

It is very important that you leave the Privacy Salon with tools & knowledge you can use on a daily basis, and explain to your friends how to do it too. All the attendees should come with device(s) they want to install tools on.

– We’ll discuss why cryptography, anonymity and anti-tracking tools are important today
– We’ll install online anonymity tools
– We’ll secure our communications
– We’ll make sure we can’t be easily tracked online
– We’ll have a drink and a chat

Next Privacy Salon 04/07/18 – GLASSROOM

The next Privacy Salon will be part of the #GLASSROOM  Experience exhibition created by Tactical Tech and Mozilla and organised  by BEE SECURE . The Glassroom has already been a great success worldwide with 10,000 visitors in New York in 2016, and nearly 20,000 visitors in London in 2017.

As usual, snacks will be served

On Saturday July 7th we will also be having an open event at the Glassroom from 10:00-15:00. During the event we will be exploring the exhibition, looking at how facial recognition works and how to avoid it, doing a “walkshop” to see traces of the internet, data and surveillance in the streets, making Faraday pouches to block signals, starting a Data Detox and more.
